Optimizing Google Adwords Campaigns
PerfectAdsense.com has run extensive Adwords campaigns and has helped many to boost Adwords revenues. We have found that it is not a science and an optimal solution cannot be derived from an excel application, but only through trial and error.
Optimizing your adwords campaigns can be an unpleasurable task, especially if you are running multiple campaigns and trial and error just isn’t working for you. Something must be done though, in order to get the results you seek.
We have put together a list of our top ten tips that should be considered when optimizing your campaigns and groups. Apply great tips instead of slaving away for weeks trying to figure out what you haven’t tried yet.
1 Keep your bids low, even $.05-$.10 and win with high Ctrs, not high bids.
2 Headlines should match keywords
Ad for “wifi camera” keywords has “wifi camera” in the headline
3 Use 100 or more keywords, not 10. Do keyword research and choose carefully. Use tools like Overture’s Search Term Suggestion Tool and Google AdWords Keyword Tool to get many variations.
4 Take visitors to a specific destination url, usually not a home page.
ex. http://www.Wifi.com/Cameras/wirelessgcam.htm
not http://www.wifi.com
5 -Negative keywords, [phrase matching] and “phrase matching”
-free
-cheap
wifi camera and “wifi camera” and [wifi camera]
6 Logical organization of campaigns & groups
Campaign 1: Cameras
Group 1: Video
Group 2: Still
Campaign 2: Accessories
Group 1: Tripods
Group 2: Batteries
7 Groups clustered in very tight matches between phrases and ads
Group 1 (wifi camera)
wifi camera
wifi g camera
linksys wifi g camera
Group 2 (wifi router)
wifi router
small wifi router
small linksys wifi router
8 Always rotate and split test your ads & play “beat my control”
Create two ads, always run two ads, and always be split testing them
9 Change one thing at a time and get at least 20 responses from your best ad before deleting the loser.
